It’s one thing for God to not be angry with us. It’s another for him to forgive us and not credit our sin to us. It’s another thing for the God who is offended to say “I forgive you”.
Justification by faith is the fulfillment of what the law pointed to and couldn’t bring about and fulfills what the OT pointed to through Abraham and others. Justification is being counted as righteous. How is one justified?
Though we are unrighteous, God makes righteousness available to all who believe.
God sent His son to die in order to vindicate Him as righteous in loving and forgiving sinners. As we continue in Romans, we see how God can be righteous in forgiving sinners who fail to love His glory.
